We booked for Ryan's 30th as we'd seen the website and though we'd try it out whilst we were in Derby.
We were so glad that we did! We got lost and called the restaurant for help and the owner came out to find us and make sure we parked up safely!
The table was decorated for his birthday and we received some complimentary, chefs special, onion rings which were gorgeous!
The steaks were huge and cooked to perfection and the homemade chips were a nice touch!
We were going to go out in Derby after but ended up spending the entire evening in the restaurant as the staff we highly attentive and the atmosphere warm and welcoming.
It was a night to remember!

I have my 40th birthday on August 21st and my son would love to try lobster and enjoys scallops and prawns etc.
Will you be having a seafood menu that night, do you also have the steakhouse menu as I will be bringing my parents and they don't do seafood.
Here's hoping

We were recommended Emily's by several friends and where not disappointed with the welcome or the food we received.
We ordered a fish and a crab when booking the previous evening and these were cooked with an oriental twist. Everything was familiar, yet had an individual and novel feel to it.
The quality of the ingredients coupled with the warmth of the hosts made our evening a celebration to remember. If you are looking for something different on your plate and palate this is the place for you. It was stunning. Emily and Li even had time to find out about our party and seemed very genuine indeed.
We WILL return!

Emily,
I just had to recommend your place from half-way around the globe. Last time Ian and I were in there, you saved us from the torrential rains of June 2007 and warmed us up with your kindness, hospitality and great food. We hope to return one day but in the meantime, I am hoping that my associate at work - on holidays right now in Darby - stops by for some food. Regards, Linda Suter

This was our first visit to this basic, small eatery, to taste the best steaks we've had in a long time, followed by a delicious plum and cherry crumble. A gem of a place, run by a delightful young couple. Looking forward to a return visit.

Great food, never eaten such a good steak in England - taste, quality, locally sourced - let alone Derby. The menu is short and straight forward. It's a small restaurant, eclectic yes, but atmospheric, warm and inviting. The intimate setting suggests eating at a friends house, such is the warm welcome given by Emily herself and her husband chef. Eat here once and you will become a repeat visitor - 10/10.

I discovered Emily's simply because I was fed up of not being able to get a quality steak in Derby. I googled 'best steaks in Derby' and Emily's was the 1st website to come up. Thilled by my find I rang the restaurant and booked a table. Emily sqeezed us in as she was just about fully booked (it was a saturday night). Excited and optimistic about my find my husband and I ventured down to Derby and found a querky, little restaurant.
Our meal was FANTASTIC! I have not had a fillet steak like Emily's since 2007's steak at Vertigo restaurant in Bangkok.
ON the same night, there and then we booked again as we wanted to take our friends somewhere top nouch. That night was last night and again it was a great night and fantastic food. I think my friends will be 'passing Emily's restaurant on'. Im already thinking about my birthday in April and taking my family there, I would be very proud to take my dad to Emily's as he loves eating out and experience quality home made food.
Thanks Emily.

Celebrated Lisa May's 29th birthday. What a night! Emily, Lee and Staff fantastic hosts and the food "simply the best". Perfect.
We would all travel the distance again - 2 of us did a 100 mile round trip - for the best steaks in Derby. Don't miss out on the coffee bye the way!
Thanks a lot Emily and Lee for a great 'til late night -
30 January 2009.
